Ted L. Alvey Nampa, Idaho Ted L. Alvey, 75, of Nampa, Idaho passed away Thursday, November 5, 2009. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. Ted was born December 8, 1933 in Goshen, Utah to Maurice and Norma Jasperson Alvey. He was the second of six children, five boys and one girl. He grew up in Goshen, Utah and graduated from Payson High School in 1952. Ted met his wife Pat Peterson from Provo, Utah on his graduation day. They were married July 10, 1953 and the marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River LDS Temple. Their marriage brought much love and happiness lasting 56 years. They were blessed with five children, 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. They moved from Sandy, Ut to Idaho in 1975 and Ted became manager of Cummin's Diesel in Boise. He was a natural born salesman and won numerous awards, trips and promotions which later led to starting his own business with two sons in 1982. He loved to work and enjoyed it almost as much as hunting and fishing. Ted adored his family above everything else and was always there with love, advice and a listening ear. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various positions through the years. Ted is remembered with so much love as he leaves behind his wife Pat, a daughter, Julie (Mike) Eldridge; sons, Gary (Debbie), Mark (Teresa), Dennis (Marti), Ryan (Cori) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean (LaMar) Hall and brothers, LaMar (Donna) and Golden (Kathy) Alvey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Eddy Floyd and a brother Steven Max Alvey. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 at the Nampa LDS 23rd Ward Chapel, 6111 Birch Lane, Nampa. A viewing will be held 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12th at the Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N. Midland Blvd., Nampa and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church, prior to the services.

You will not be forgotten GRANDPA TED.

As a kid I didn't have any grandparents close, I only had one grandpa and he lived in Kansas and he only visited 2 or 3 times in my life. So when I married into the Alvey's it was exciting that they not only had one set of grandparents but two still alive and even a great grandma at the time. I love how close the Alvey family is. Grandpa Ted was alway so happy to give hugs and chat for a while. My kids as you can see from the pictures also loved grandpa Ted a lot. I'm thankful to have family so close. And that my kids not only have both set of grandparents to get to know but They had Zach's grandparents to get to know and love too. You will not be forgotten Grandpa TED.

I Love girls night. Good food, Good laughs & Great friends. My friend Sarah from High School was visiting from Oregon. So Malea opened her house to her and any friend who wanted to see Sarah while she was in town. It was a night of laughs. I'm glad I went I knew all of these girls in high school. But after girls night I think I may have got TMI.... Thanks Sarah for the visit and all the laughs.

This year Grandma Alvey wanted to start a new tradition. She already does lots of sleep overs with fun activities for the kids and calls it Camp grandma. But she wanted to start one every year at Halloween time. And this is what she had planned for them. First we meet at the Red Barn in Santaquin for a hay ride to the pumpkin patch. She told the kids she would buy them any pumpkin they could carry out of the patch.

Then it was back to Grandma's house for Pumpkin carving, Apple bobbing and Halloween shirts she bought for all the kids. She also made little personal pizza's for each kid to top how ever they wanted. But by the time that rolled around we were all pictured out.

The Alvey Halloween Party.

This year the Halloween party we kinda had to wing it. It was bumped up early because Jared and Val were in town this weekend. We had cookie decorating, Wii golf, Guitar Hero, Scary movies in the theater room, and lots to eat.


Apparently Gina knows how to rock it cause Mandi can't help but jam to the music.


My mom always said if you make a funny face and get slapped on the back it will stay that way. I think that is what happened to Kyle cause his face looks this way in every picture.

One Crazy Girl.

Brookelynn had a dentist appointment yesterday. She was so excited CRAZY she obviously doesn't get out much. When we got there she couldn't wait to get the smelly mask Watermelon scent PLEASE. She never complained, she was so proud of herself that she didn't raise her hand because it hurt. And when she grows up she want to be a dentist girl. BUT The numb lip was a little tricky I couldn't keep her from suck it or OOPS bitting it. So this is what it looked like this morning.

Cub Scouts Pack Night.

Cub Scout was an eventful night. Brady got his wolf pach, they shared and learned about collections, and also had car racing.

At another scout activity they made box cars. So tonight they had a relay race with them it was fun to watch. Jenna got to be the pit crew. The first leg they went down and back then got their glasses washed. Second leg they had to drink a cup of water with a straw. Third leg the had to take their shoes and socks off and put them back on. I'm not sure who won but the boys sure enjoyed it.

Last ride of the season.

This was definitely our last ride of the season not only because it is getting cold, but our bike broke down on us in Fairview :( Luckily we broke down at a gas station next to a Motorcycle dealer. They helped us out and in the end we made it home with a very sad Zach.

Our ride was up SF canyon around Scofield res. down Fairview canyon and back home out SF canyon again. Beautiful ride and the leaves were starting to turn.

Pet for a day

We had a stray kitten show up at our house one day. And Brooke has always loved animals, and wanted a pet. But Zach is allergic to animals WINK WINK. So I let her take care of it for a day. We feed it tuna fish from the can and gave it warm milk. We made a bed out of towels on the back porch. It stayed all day and took Brookelynn's torture. I'm sure if she could have she would have put it in doll clothes. Luckily it did not stay the night. Poor Brookelynn :(

Brady before we were going for the Zach Efron look but were failing miserably. Mandi trimmed it a few days before for pictures and thats when we realized that this look wasn't working for him.

And here is the after. Mandi always wanted to try and cut a boys hair with scissors, and hey if it failed we could just buzz it all off. But she did a really great job. And now Brady is a stud muffin.

Onion Days 5K

So I set a goal at the beginning of the summer to run a 5K in September for Onion Days. So I trained all summer and it helped me to loose 30 Lbs. YEA!!!!! And I beat my best tread mill time to boot. I finished the 5K in 32.03. I never stopped to walk either go me. So who is with me 5K in May for Art City days? And no Jake and Garet the adrenaline didn't make me want to do the 10K.

And thanks all of you who supported me. As Mandi would say" Good times Good times."

Our hike to the top of Timp. Mt.

The hike was super pretty and really long 5 1/2 hours up and 3 hours back. But it was so worth it. It turned out to be a perfect day partly cloudy. And we got an early start or so I thought people were coming down when we were headed up. Not a hike I would do in the dark not only for the scary and slippery rock factor but you miss all the awesome scenery.

So all in all we survived. The group was Gary, Jake, Zach, and Me. And at least I plan on going again next year on the other trail. So all of you get ready and go Mmmm K.

So this post was inspired by my cousin who apparently had just as hard of a time finding school clothes this year as I did. Are we really going Punk? I don't mind people who dress Punk But as the only choice for clothes REALLY ???? Skinny jeans-Vests and scarfs on everything and what is with these shoes? Who is with me?

This year Brady is in 3rd grade. What a stud. Do you like the posing with the skateboard ya I'm trying to be Val with no success.


This year Jenna is in 5th grade. Wow the years have gone by fast. She loves school and couldn't wait for it to start. She wishes it was year round.

Brady and Myli making nests out of pine branches for the many many squirrels that were running around the camp and gathering nuts. It was pretty cool and the squirrels were not afraid of us. They were too busy getting stores for the winter.

So Jenna and her friend got their school shopping done just in time. It is Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's new line. Garbage Chic.They had a fashion show at achievement day's activity. And now they are supper pumped for the first day of school.

Gateway fountains.

So we had to make a trip to the apple store at the gateway. Which is right next to the fountains so we couldn't keep the kids away. About every 15 min. the fountains would go in time to music and an excess of water needless to say it was fun to watch and funnier to play in.

We played a couple games of horseshoes. Brady and I were on a team and Jenna and Kyle were on a team Jenna and Kyle won both times. Kyle was their ringer. The only experienced horseshoe player.

Brooke was pretty tired from swimming at the lake all day and from the time we got to camp she wanted to go to bed. So I talked her in to just chilling in the hammock.

We planed a last minute camping trip to Yuba lake for the 24th of July. When we got there they only had one spot left and boy was it crap so we got our money back. Luckily we were with Kyle and Gina because Gina's family has awesome property up Nephi canyon that we camped at after we were done at the lake.

So after sunday dinner at our house the kids wanted to get in the pool. Kyle and Gina thought it was a good idea too. So we got them all changed and loaned Kyle and Gina our skinny wish we could fit in them swim suits that still needed to be pinned and they jumped in as well. What good sports. And Wyatt and Eva always ready to swim in what ever.

So Brookelynn is trying to earn a princess barbie from the disney store to add to her collection by waking up dry. The mornings she does wake up dry makes me do back flips and so happy and maul her with hugs. SHE KNOWS THIS>>>>So this morning she snuck into my room and took off her wet pull up and put on a clean one. Then proceeded to let me know she woke up dry. So she got the back flips and hugs and made me really happy until Jenna said wait a minute she was in you bedroom an awful long time and is still wearing the same clothes. So I questioned her. Brookelynn did you change your pull up to make me happy. And she admitted to it so I told her she need to make sure her dirty pull up was in the garbage. So she said wait here don't come in and I'll get it. So we waited a few seconds till we could bust her and where she hid it. THE FURNACE VENT IN MY FLOOR. Are you kidding me that would have been a pleasant surprise on a hot day or the first time in winter that we turned on the furnace. It was hard to get mad when she was just tring to make me happy. What a smart deceptive little girl I have. Can't wait for the teenage years when she might just be good at it.

Brady got to go fishing with the boy scouts today for their activity. And look what he brought home. He was also the only one on the trip to catch a fish. Way to go Brady. { Not too excited to teach him how to gut it and cook it. }

Girls night got crashed.

Friday night was supposed to be Boy only camp out and girls night in. My niece is visiting from Washington so we invited her over for the girls night. We planed on making homemade pizza, doing our nails and watching chick flicks but due to the storm the boys canceled their trip. And caused a very sad Brady so we also invited Spencer over to sleep in the back yard in the tent with Brady. It was a little bit windy but the boys toughed it out. And Zach invited his brother Jake and his family over for movies and the girls still had fun doing nails and hanging out down stairs.

We got to watch Afton for a week while Annie was at girls camp Rhett had to work. She slept over but in the evenings Rhett would come and visit and put her to bed. While she was with us we could resist taking cute pictures of her running around the yard and swimming. She is such a good baby. We ask to watch her even when they don't need us. She is Zach baby girl. Hopefully Annie's next baby coming I think in October is as fun and good as Afton.

She liked the pool but got over it quickly.





She loved trying to climb the slide but was still wet from swimming so she would make it about half way and slip back down. It was so cute and she just kept trying.

She cried at my shocked expression on my face and said with crocodile tears. I just want my hair like yours.



So on Friday night I was doing the usual in the basement with friends sleeping to what ever movie they picked and I was awoken to a start by Jenna yelling MOM MANDI NEEDS YOU IN THE BATHROOM. So I thought well Mandi must really need me so I went upstairs and found Mandi covering her mouth laughing in the hall way and pointing into the bathroom and this is what I found.


So she has been telling me for a year she wants her hair cut like mine and her favorite cousin Kamri. I guess next time I will take her serious.


She knew what she wanted and said she wasn't done. The garbage was full of her hair.


She started throwing a fit when I said Mandi grab the camera.

For family night we went up to beer can flats in Payson canyon. We made SMORES and some roasted hot dogs.It was a good night. Everyone in the family with the exception of Jared and val.( Because they are in St. Gorge now.) Were able to come. We even had Adam and Mikelle join us with their two cute kids.

Mandi learned a trick from Betsy that if you turn your lit up cell pone to the orangutangs they will come right up to the window. And what do you know it works. The baby orangutang was so cute but definitely afraid of mom. When mamma orangutang wanted to check out the light the baby split. It was kind of cute.

Hey Mom Look What I Found.

So my kids and their friends were playing at the church by our house and found an injured bird stuck on a butterfly net I don't know if someone did it and left him there but he was hurt pretty badly. So what do my kids do bring him home and beg and plead for me to help it.



So I made a boxed nest and gave it water from a dropper. We found it worms but he wouldn't eat them. He just kept tucking his head in his wings & closed his eyes. So we left him in peace to sleep because he was not doing well. And a few hours later I went to check on him and needless to he didn't make it.



Ok so what other mammals can we find to care for. A few hours later Brady and Spencer had found a garden snake. And asked me to make a cage for him so he wouldn't get away that they were going to take turns with it at their houses.

I DON'T THINK SO.

Nice try boys. I made them let it go I didn't want two mammals to die on my watch today.

So this is our second ride for a cure. We enjoy Riding and hey it's for a good cause. They donate all funds to breast cancer research. And the tickets come with a concert, free breakfast & sweet bandanna. Harley Davidsons Motorcycles also donates a mortorcycle to be raffled off. So GOOD TIMES.

So I braved the trip to the kids school with four other kids counting Brookelynn to see the dance festival they put on every year. The kids did such a good job and they love and look forward to it every year. My friend Jen was there too to see her son and loaned me her video camera so I will post the videos later.

Salem Pond. Sunday picnic

The day before my birthday we took the kids to Salem pond for a Sunday picnic. We went intending on feeding the ducks but it was warm enough to play in the pond so the people playing in the pond scared the ducks away and the rest of the pond was full of fishermen so need less to say the few ducks there were didn't want our bread because they had enough from all the other people who wanted to feed the ducks. So we ate and played instead.

Brady's Baptism

So we finally got Brady baptized on May 2nd with the way conference fell they moved Baptisms up a week and we were not ready for that. So he was baptized on May 2nd by his dad and confirmed by his grandpa Alvey. We are blessed to have a kid as good as Brady. He always tries to do the right even if mom and dad want to skip church he still gets ready and goes. What a good example he is.

I appoligze It has been a while since I have had anything blog worthy so here is a little EASTER OVERLOAD!

Searching for the three dozen eggs we colored at Grandma Alvey's house the day before. The Easter Bunny hides those for us as well. Good thing he helps him self to the fridge to get them out and hide them.

April fools

My Brady can be so sweet and funny sometimes. He wanted to play an April fools joke on me so he wrote a sign that said.
Your room is drtey and put it on my door. Then when I walked in he had cleaned my room. He made my bed as good as a 8 year old boy can. put all my dirty clothes in the basket of my clean clothes that needed to be folded, and moved my stuff so I may never find it again. Sweet as he is it really was a good joke on me.

4. Stole my makeup for my cabinet and took it downstairs to give herself a pretty face and was busted when
she wanted me to see how pretty she was.
Ya she is defiantly harder than any of my daycare kids.

Spring Fever

I don't know what is up with me lately. And no I'm not pregnant. But it feels like the nesting stage of a pregnancy. Every day for the last week I have been deep cleaning. And the is not like me ( if they can't see it it's not there.) But every day I've cleaned at least one set of blinds and I'm not sure they have been cleaned since the 1900. I say that like it was so long ago but for a blind cleaning it is. And may I say it is a good arm work out. I've also scrubbed the grout in the shower with a tooth brush. Cleaned a few cabinets and rearranged some food cleaned under the fridge and freezer. And soon my next project will be to paint the major living area. Anybody want to join me. I think I was me alone who brought on SPRING. Your welcome.

Let me start by saying SORRY MOM I LOVE YOU.

So we all know the curse our mothers put on us. I HOPE YOU HAVE A CHILD JUST LIKE YOU.ok not so bad she will be funny, outgoing big deal. So the curse i now know was so they have all my bad qualities of your childhood. And so my mom says Brookelynn is my spiting image. So just today she.
1. Popped my exercise ball with a push pin.
2. Got into the fingernail polish.
3. Stole and tangled all my jewelry.
4. Climbs the cupboards and grabs any treat any time she wants.
5. Got into Jenna's closet and got Mandi's wedding dress out of the bag.
6. Got one of the babies up from nap just because she wanted to play with them.
7. Went in Brady's room, found his candy, licked a sucker which she doesn't like so she leaves it stuck to the floor.
8. When asked to say sorry all she ever says is she doesn't have any. They went to school or the church or the store.
boy does she have busy Sorry's. So stubborn as she is she sat in time out for a good hour before she found her Sorry's.

Brady and his friend Spencer were told by a kid at school that Leprechauns are real. And If you leave a note and a treat they will be your friend and return your message. So here are their notes the treats they are going to leave for them. Who wouldn't want to be their friend Oranges and Almonds are good.

Brady and his friend Spencer found the Halloween box and helped them selfs. Then started running around the house driving me nuts.

Grandma and Grandpa Alvey also got him a new set of Scriptures.


And aunt Mandi got him a scripture bag.


We bought him a new trick bike. And oh boy check out those tricks.


Grandma and Grandpa Moore gave him a card with money. And it is burning a hole in his pocket. I'm trying to get him to really think what he wants to spend it on. But he thinks 10 items at the dollar store sounds fun. To a kid it's the amount of things you get not how much you want them.

Girls night

I get to go out with my friends from High School about three times a year. We try to do it around our birthdays and since Rachele and I have the same birthday I guess I'll be seeing you girls in May thanks for a great night It was soooo needed.

So ya I’m a little crazy by the end of the day. But in times like these I am soooo thankful I still have a job.

OK OK so there are two extras. Due to Rachel visiting. And I only have that many babies three days a week.

It’s My Life. AndI'm greatful everyday for all the parents who allow their kids to come to my crazy house. But in the end they are loved and have plenty of other kids to play with and will be well adjusted before they leave me for Kindergarten.

So the best thing about having an Aunt the same size as you. LOTS & LOTS of hand me downs.


Mandi thought it would be fun to see if her Wedding dress would fit Jenna. So If Jenna just gets taller she already has her wedding dress picked out, Chocolate stain and all.

Wii Do Run Run Run Wii Do Run Run.

It was quite funny to watch Brookelynn Run with the Wii. She sometimes seemed to want to run into the T.V. If you can see in the screen she is sopose to keep up with but not pass the girl in front of her. At one point she runs so fast her Mii trips. What a laugh best investment I ever made. She will be playing every day before nap time. She is getting pretty good at Yoga too.

Bean Museum

With the economy the way it is, and everyone trying to save money we wanted to take the kids somewhere free but cool. And what place better than the Bean Museum?

Brooke was a little Weirded out by the whole dead animal thing. It's like a zoo for Stuffed animals we told her, she still didn't get it. Smart girl!

It cracks me up that both Brookelynn and Brady have been found asleep like this. They get soooooo tired but don't want to miss a thing and refuse to go to bed until everyone else dose and end up with a kinked neck.

SUPER BOWL SUNDAY

Gary cracks me up he never takes the chairs always lays on the floor or stands up I'm not sure if it is so he can play with the grandkids on the floor or that he just can't bend at the waist. Either way it makes more room for all the food we had.


I'm not sure what is up with Kyle I think his hollow leg is full of food and too heavy to carry.

Super Bowl Sunday is the last Holiday of the Holiday season didn't you know.

We had it all Seven layer bean dip, BBQ Smokes, Sour cream enchiladas, A nacho bar, Chicken Wings, Cookies Cookies Cookies, and Root bear floats.

Jenna and friend Oliva's science experiment.

Jenna and her friend Oliva are doing a science project together this year for the 4th grade science fair. The project is about how soap works. It lifts and removes dirt and oils from your clothes and dishes. This experiment show an example of how it works. It is way cool and easy to try with your own kids at home.

Step 1. Pour milk on a plate


Step 2. Put drops of food coloring in milk.


Step 3. Put dish soap on the tip of a Q-tip.


Step 4. Dip your Q-tip in the the center of the food coloring and watch it explode.


Step 5. Repeat and the coloring will explode some more.

Brookelynn is the most girly tomboy ever. Princess PJ's and a superman cape makes for a fun night.



She looks like a magian in this one. and now she will pull a rabbit out of her hat.

Music Mayhem

I know I know everyone hates it when they surf through blogs opening different windows with everyones different music it gets a little hectic. And that is why I took my music off in the first place. But I love hearing everyone's taste in music and being a stay at home mom who only watches Disney channel it helps me discover new stuff because i don't get to listen to the radio much. New Year's Eve

 

We had a New Years Eve party at Debbie and Gary's house this year we brought our new Wii we got for Christmas and played Gautair Hero, Tennis, Duck hunt & lots of board games. It is always a fun night with the Alvey's although the picture of the boys is a normal view of what it is like living with them busy with i pods, or laptops. is the regular secene for them.

We had our christmas party at Dennis and Marti's house this year and we had a little suprise the Grinch came to visit. Wyatt didn't quite like that and Brookelynn would leave grandpa Ted's side. The grinch did a good job and all the kids were excited to receive gifts from him. We were also given who ville names. My familys names were Jocky Jenny Jenna Loo Who, Belly Dancer Brookelynn Loo Who, Brillant Brady Loo Who, Kite Flying Kate Loo Who, Zoo Keeper Zachary Loo Who.

Wasp attack

So we have had a problem with Wasps this year really bad. The kids have been bitten at least 6 times between the two of them but we never could find the nest so they all got bites out by the garden so I went to search of the mystery nest.I watched the wasps fly around the flowers and then go under the rail road tie that lines the garden so I start to spray the log and suddenly at least 20 wasps attack. With all the kids in the back ward as well watching me. So I scrambled to get them inside and in the process got bitten by the same wasp stuck on my shirt twice. So my neighbor says he will come help me flip the rail road tie to get to the nest better. So I with hose in hand and my brave neighbor flipped the tie over to reveal this. Which is now soaked with RAID. THANK YOU ALEX.

Fall Fun

Conversations with a three year old.

So Brookelynn has and Elmo phone that says her name. Well she was having a conversation with him and it was time to eat. So .....

MOM: call him back later.

BROOKE: Elmo is a girl.

MOM:no Elmo is a boy.

BROOKE: But she is red. And laughs cute.

So at night we have a tuck in routine Make a tent out of her bed with the top bunk.

her in next to her 3 foot Superman Prince. So I lean over and give her a kiss and hug

and then lean over to give Superman a kiss and hug. Then Brooke say stop it mom He

is mine.

She knows alot for a 3 year old.

I'm just waiting for the teenage years.

Hope none of her friends try to steal her Prince.

Happy Anniversary Babe

This is one of our first dates and the moment I knew Zach was for Me. My room mate Kacy and her boyfriend Shad went with Zach and I to the hot pots in SF. Zach was sitting on a rock above me and I sat below in the water. I turned my head to talk to Zach and he let one fly. I bust up laughing and knew at that moment he was meant for me. Dad you said I could never find someone who could handle my burping and farting. He obviously never meet the Alvey's

Our Disney Trip.

So our Disney trip was tons of fun.Only Brooke was a 1/2 inch too short for the big rides.Even after the disney employee's told us to buy taller shoes.So we got her some Cinderella glass slippers with heals. Still too short. And they made her feet sweat, the shoes fog up, and her toes to prune. So it was only fair to let her see the princesses that we waited 3 hours for. Hence the slide show below.
